Summary.

The psychotherapeutic setting is thought to be of utmost importance for the process and outcome of psychotherapy. The author reflects possibly unfavourable consequences for the therapeutic process if the term ‘setting’ is used, which means a reification of relational configurations. The article reflects on a method of getting information about favorable relational configurations out of the therapeutic process. Establishing and managing these relational configurations is not a prerequisite, but subject of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Special attention is given to an intervention technique that safeguards the autonomy of both patient and psychotherapist. Finally, some fundamental principles regarding the management of the setting and of relational configurations are summarized.

Zusammenfassung.

Dem psychotherapeutischen Rahmen wird höchste Bedeutung für den psychotherapeutischen Prozess und sein Ergebnis beigemessen. Der Autor weist darauf hin, dass der Terminus “Rahmen” eine Verdinglichung von Beziehungskonfigurationen beinhaltet und reflektiert mögliche ungünstige Auswirkungen der Verwendung dieses Terminus auf den therapeutischen Prozess. Es wird aufgezeigt, wie der Psychoanalytiker im psychotherapeutischen Prozess Hinweise auf günstige Beziehungskonfigurationen gewinnen kann. Die Etablierung solch günstiger basaler Beziehungskonfigurationen wird nicht als Voraussetzung, sondern als Gegenstand und Aufgabe analytischer Psychotherapie vorgestellt. Sowohl bei der Etablierung als auch bei der Handhabung basaler Beziehungskonfigurationen wird der Autonomie von Patient und Psychoanalytiker interventionstechnisch besonderes Augenmerk gewidmet. Schließlich werden Prinzipien der interventionstechnischen Handhabung basaler Beziehungskonfigurationen in dreizehn Kurzthesen zusammengefasst.
