Abstract

In this paper, stress-intensity factors for a two-dimensional problem are determined. Strips with multiple symmetrical edge cracks in tension are investigated. A simple analytical estimation is compared to numerical results. The influence of penetration of the crack faces and mixed-mode loading on the numerical results is investigated. A simple method to estimate stress-intensity factors for strips with multiple edge cracks is proposed.
