Gerontologie und Pflege

Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag verfolgt drei Ziele. Erstens geht es darum einige Aspekte der aktuellen Wissenschaftsdiskussion in der Gerontologie und Pflegewissenschaft aufzugreifen und die Hintergründe darzustellen. Dabei soll der Eigenständigkeit der Disziplinen, der Inter- und Multidisziplinarität und den Theoriedebatten nachgegangen werden. Grundsätzlich gilt der Befund, dass wissenschaftstheoretische Grundsatzfragen in der Gerontologie vernachlässigt wurden, der Fokus auf empirische Forschung und den Aufbau einer wissenschaftlichen Infrastruktur gelegt wurde. Im Gegensatz dazu werden wissenschaftstheoretische Fragen in der Pflegewissenschaft intensiv diskutiert. Pflegeforschung und die Etablierung einer Forschungsinfrastruktur stehen in Deutschland aber noch am Beginn. Zweitens soll dargelegt werden, welchen Stellenwert das Thema „Pflege/Pflegebedürftigkeit” in aktuellen Veröffentlichungen hat. Hierzu wird eine Grobanalyse der beiden Fachzeitschriften „Zeitschrift für Gerontologie und Geriatrie” und „Pflege” aus den Jahren 1994 bis Mitte des Jahres 2000 vorgestellt. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, dass bei der Pflegewissenschaft Arbeiten zum Stand der Disziplin, Untersuchungen zur Motivation, Einstellung und Verhalten von Pflegenden sowie Studien zur Professionalisierung dominieren. Auf gerontologischer Seite bilden Arbeiten zur Versorgungssituation, zum geriatrischen Assessment und zur Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung den Schwerpunkt. Abschließend wird auf Möglichkeiten eines Austauschs und einer gegenseitigen Befruchtung von Gerontologie und Pflegewissenschaft eingegangen.

Summary

This paper focuses on questions of the philosophy of science and the scientific development of gerontology and nursing science. First, some aspects of the scientific development in gerontology and nursing science (autonomy, inter- and multidisciplinarity as well as the theory debates) are summarized. In gerontology, problems of the philosophy of science are often neglected. The main focus is on empirical research and the establishment of an scientific infrastructure. In nursing science are questions of the philosophy of science, especially debates about the discipline, are significant. In Germany nursing research and the establishment of a scientific infrastructure are still in the initial stages. Second, on the basis of a content analysis the relevance and status of “nursing/need of care/frailty” in two leading journals (“Zeitschrift für Gerontologie und Geriatrie” and the “Pflege”) is shown. Main result is that in nursing science publications regarding the status of the discipline, studies of the motivation, attitudes and behavior of nurses as well as investigations of the professionalization are dominant. In gerontology, the main emphasis is on studies of the changing health service structure, geriatric assessment and qualification. Finally chances of an interdisciplinary exchange between gerontology and nursing science are discussed.
