Zusammenfassung

Die Alterstraumatologie hat sich in den letzten Jahren neben der Gerontopsychiatrie als zweiter struktureller Schwerpunkt innerhalb der geriatrischen Medizin etabliert. Die ersten Ansätze der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit im Sinne eines Komanagementmodells liegen bereits 50 Jahre zurück. Schwung in die Entwicklung und den Ausbau von alterstraumatologischen Zentren kam Anfang des neuen Jahrtausends. Inspiriert von aktuellen Daten aus den Vereinigten Staaten und ersten positiven Erfahrungen sowie einer zunehmenden wissenschaftlichen Evidenz entwickelt sich das Komanagementmodell in der Versorgung geriatrischer Patienten mit osteoporotischen Frakturen zum Standard im deutschsprachigen Raum. Trotz der erfreulichen Entwicklung stehen wir erst am Beginn; insbesondere die Datenlage abseits der hüftnahen Frakturen ist noch unbefriedigend. Der vorliegende Beitrag befasst sich mit der Entstehung der Alterstraumatologie, insbesondere im deutschsprachigen Raum, und gibt einen Überblick über die aktuelle Literatur zum orthogeriatrischen Komanagement sowie zu zukünftig erforderlichen Weiterentwicklungen.
