Ökonomische Evaluation der Telepathologie

Zusammenfassung

Die Telepathologie, definiert als mikroskopische Gewebsuntersuchung über räumliche Entfernungen, ist bisher überwiegend unter der Fragestellung nach den technischen Voraussetzungen und der diagnostischen Genauigkeit im Vergleich zur konventionellen histologischen Befundung untersucht worden. Betriebswirtschaftliche Aspekte in Gestalt von Kosten und Nutzen der Telepathologie und telepathologischer Leistungen wurden dabei meist ausgeklammert oder nur am Rande behandelt. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden deshalb in Form eines Kriterienkataloges den Anschaffungs- und Betriebskosten einer Telepathologiestation mögliche Kostensenkungspotentiale gegenübergestellt, die neben nicht oder nur schwer quantifizierbaren Nutzenkomponenten wesentlich die Entscheidung „pro oder contra” Einrichtung einer Telepathologiestation beeinflussen dürften.

Summary

Telepathology, defined as the practice of pathology over a distance by viewing images transmitted from a remote site, was previously analyzed mainly with respect to technical equipment and diagnostic accuracy compared with conventional histological diagnosis. In this paper, telepathology is analyzed with regard to economic points of view, demonstrating the background for the cost-benefit analysis of telepathology. The acquisition cost and the operating costs of a telepathology system are compared with potential cost-saving and other benefits from telepathology. This analysis may help to decide whether or not telepathology should be established in a hospital.
