Dipole bands in 142Gd

Abstract

The high spin states of 142Gd were studied via the 111Cd(35Cl, 1p3n) reaction at 170 MeV. Three dipole cascades were found, one of which decayed to both the proton high-j particle states and the neutron high-j hole states. These can be classified in the category of “Shears Band” which is introduced by S.Frauendorf.
