Variational Method¶for Stable Polytropic Galaxies

Abstract:

It is shown that polytropic galaxies which obey the generalized Emden-Fowler law are minimizers of appropriate Energy-Casimir functionals. They are dynamically stable under spherically symmetric perturbations.
