Abstract
Sleep disorders are a common problem in children with developmental disabilities or in blind children. We report about a 10-month-old infant with Waardenburg's anophthalmia suffering from severe sleep problems. The boy was treated successfully with 1 mg melatonin. Experience in treatment with melatonin of blind infants is rare. Our report documents that melatonin is a well tolerated and effective drug for treatment of sleep problems also in children younger than 1 year of age. The effect is stabile with a very low dose of 0.5 mg/night.
