Erfolgreiche Therapie eines diskoiden Lupus erythematodes mit Efalizumab

Successful therapy of discoid lupus erythematosus with efalizumab

Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung des chronisch-diskoiden Lupus erythematodes (CDLE) stellt nicht selten eine therapeutische Herausforderung dar. Eine topische Therapie ist oftmals nicht ausreichend; auch führt die klassische Systemtherapie mit Antimalariamitteln [(Hydroxy-)Chloroquin] nicht immer zum Erfolg. Wir berichten über einen 50-jährigen Patienten mit einem seit 8 Jahren bestehenden, zuvor therapierefraktären CDLE, der unter der Off-label-Gabe des anti-CD11a-Antikörpers Efalizumab bereits nach 12 Wochen eine erste deutliche Besserung sowie unter der insgesamt bislang 11-monatigen Erhaltungstherapie eine nahezu komplette Remission seiner Erkrankung erreichte.

Abstract

The therapy of discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is occasionally a therapeutic challenge. Topical treatment is often not sufficient and therapy with antimalarials [(hydroxy-) chloroquine] not always successful. We report on a 50-year-old male patient with recalcitrant chronic DLE who experienced within 12 weeks at first improvement and then almost complete remission for 11 months after off-label application of the anti-CD11a antibody efalizumab.
