Summary.
Information materials on mammography screening in Austria – do they help women with informed decision?
Objectives: Autonomy of patients is receiving greater acceptance in health care and prevention. Therefore, patients’ and consumers’ information attains greater significance.
Methods: The following study analyses the information in pamphlets on mammography aimed at consumers in Austria, in total five leaflets and two brochures.
Results: The results show that the information given does not support patients’ informed decisions.
Conclusions: The discussion lists reasons and shows ways to meet the challenges.
Zusammenfassung.
Fragestellung: In der Gesundheitsversorgung und in der Prävention gewinnen Information von PatientInnen und Betroffenen und damit die Unterstützung ihrer Autonomie zunehmend an Bedeutung.
Methoden: In der vorliegenden Untersuchung analysieren wir den Informationsgehalt aller Faltblätter (Folder) und Broschüren zu Mammographie für EndverbraucherInnen in Österreich.
Ergebnisse: Die Auswertung der insgesamt fünf Folder und zwei Broschüren zeigt, dass die gebotenen Informationen nicht ausreichend sind, um den PatientInnen und Betroffenen eine informierte Entscheidung zu ermöglichen.
Schlussfolgerungen: In der Diskussion werden mögliche Gründe für die fehlende und zum Teil unzutreffende Information angeführt und Verbesserungsvorschläge gemacht.

Matériel d’information sur les dépistages de mammographies en Autriche – soutiennent-ils les décisions informées des femmes?
Objectifs: Dans le domaine des soins de santé et de la prévention, la signification de l’information des patient(e)s et des personnes concernées et donc le soutien de leur autonomie sont de plus en plus importants.
Méthodes: La présente étude a pour but l’analyse du contenu informatique de tous les dépliants et de toutes les brochures touchant à la mammographie pour les consommatrices finales en Autriche.
Résultats: L’évaluation d’un total de cinq dépliants et de deux brochures prouve que les informations données ne sont pas suffisantes pour permettre aux patient(e)s et aux personnes concernées de prendre une décision informée.
Conclusions: Lors de la discussion, des raisons possibles pour les informations manquantes ou erronées seront citées et des possibilités de correction proposées.
