Abstract.

We investigate the Riemann problem for the one-dimensional Chaplygin gas dynamics equations. We show that it can be solved provided concentration effects are taken into account. Then, the Lax–Friedrichs scheme, with unit CFL number, is shown to be consistent with our solution to the Riemann problem.
