A boundary value problem from draining and coating flows involving a third-order ordinary differential equation

Abstract.

A mathematical analysis is given of a boundary value problem which arises in the model for flows draining down a dry vertical wall. Questions about existence and qualitative properties of solutions are discussed. An explicit solution is found.
