Abstract

We have not mentioned Regge fits to ρ, ω and K* production, photoproduction, np → pn and ¯pp → ¯nn, etc., since there are substantial uncertainties in such analyses. The unnatural parity exchanges are not well understood and even for π exchange there are difficulties in including absorption in such a way as to have quantitative predictions.

For vector and tensor meson exchanges near t = 0 the picture is much clearer. Ratios of couplings to different processes should be reliable, and spin flip — non-flip ratios are of interest even though they will be more sensitive to cut effects. The results are basically in agreement with exchange degeneracy and SU(3) and correspond to F/D ∼ −5 for the A′ coupling and F/D ≈ 1/2 for vB. Tests in hypercharge exchange will be possible.

For the N α and Δ δ baryon exchanges the SU(3) ratios seem consistent with F/D ≈ 1 for the Nα but much improved data at higher energies will be necessary before full confidence can be gained. Very many predictions can be made for such processes.
