Abstract

It is conceivable that during a small fraction of its lifetime in the nucleus a proton or neutron stays in one of its excited states, thus giving rise to isobar configurations in nuclear wave functions. Recent work on the construction, application and possible tests of such isobar admixtures in the short-range nuclear structure area is reviewed.
