Unusual Properties of New Polymers

Part of the book series: Advances in Polymer Science ((POLYMER,volume 50))

Abstract

Photochromic phenomena occurring in the solid phase are discussed first from the point of view of the influence of a polymer medium on the photochromic behavior and reaction reversibility. Inversely, in the second part, the influence of conformational changes of chain segments induced by chromophore isomerization is discussed with respect to the physical behavior of the polymer matrix, and especially concerning photomechanical effects.
