Abstract

Goldfish were trained for 25 days with either large or small reward in a straight alley runway. Half of the subjects in each group were then shifted to the other reward magnitude. The fish rapidly changed swimming speeds when they were shifted. Reward was not visible to a fish until completion of a given trial.
