Abstract

For many years now, the globalization of value creation chains has been increasing. Th is raises the question which role the field of ergonomics as a whole can assume and which role falls to its national representatives in this context - what are the opportunities for them and what kind of consequences might this have. Here, the current discussion concerning sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) can offer some initial opportunities. Slowly but surely customers are becoming interested in the location and the conditions under which products are being manufactured - burning or collapsing textile factories are just one cause for the rise in public attention. Consequently companies are increasingly forced to deal with the working conditions along their value creation chains. As a result, new fields of action could open up for (a more) internationally positioned ergonomics. At this point, it will therefore be necessary to discuss exemplary topics and extrapolate the resulting consequences - for example in regard to new or supplementary methods or to curricula.
