Abstract

Cast iron materials are once again becoming increasingly attractive for use in the production of cylinder blocks in internal combustion engine manufacturing. Excellent frictional properties in the cylinder liners, high strength, low deformation at high temperatures and an excellent cost/benefit ratio are just some of the factors contributing to this, as this article by Halberg Guss about grey-iron crankcases shows.
