Zusammenfassungen
Anhand theoretischer Überlegungen und empirischer Befunde wird verdeutlicht, daß die bisherige Diskussion über die Frage nach einer Beziehung zwischen sportlicher Aktivität und Persönlichkeit noch von globalen Annahmen und Hypothesen bestimmt wird, Fragen wie etwa die, ob und inwieweit Sport als solcher die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung des sport-treibenden Menschen beeinflußt, lassen sich in dieser Form wissenschaftlich nicht beantworten. Sport wird in so vielfältigen Realisierungsformen betrieben und die menschliche Persönlichkeit ist so vielfältig strukturiert und verfügt über so große kompensatorische Möglichkeiten, daß generelle Sozialisationswirkungen des Sports nicht zu erwarten sind, sondern nur differentielle und spezielle Umwelt-Sport-Person-Interaktionseffekte. Über die Differenzierung der Fragestellung hinaus könnte es sich als notwendig erweisen, sport-spezifische Meßinstrumente zu entwickeln.
Summaries
By means of theoretical reflections and empirical findings the author makes clear that the discussion about the relationship between sport activity and personality is still widely influenced by global assumptions and hypotheses. Questions such as whether or how far sport influences the development of the personality of the sportsman cannot be answered thus scientifically. There are so many different alternatives in practising sports and the structure of the human personality is so varied and has such a wide potential of possibilities for compensation that general socialising effects cannot be expected from sport. Only specific effects from the interaction between environment, sport and man can be expected. In addition to more differentiated questions it might prove necessary to develop research techniques which are more specific for the requirements of sport.

Les auteurs cherchent à prouver à l’aide de réflexions théoriques et de résultats empiriques que la discussion actuelle sur le problème concernant les rapports entre l’activité sportive et la personnalité est déterminée par des hypothèses globales. Les questions de savoir si et dans quelle mesure le sport en tant que tel est capable d’influencer le développement de la personnalité de l’homme pratiquant le sport, ne trouvent pas, posées sous cette formelà, une réponse scientifique. Le sport est pratiqué dans des formes de réalisation si multiples et la personnalité humaine est structurée d’une façon si variée et dispose d’un nombre de possibilités compensatoires si élevé qu’on ne peut pas attendre des effets de socialisation généraux par le sport, mais seulement des effets d’interaction différenciels et spécifiques entre le milieu, le sport et la personne. Si l’on veut cerner et nuancer le problème, il pourrait s’avérer nécessaire de créer des instruments de mesure plus spécifiquement adaptés au sport.
