Kurzfassung
Als achter Primatenfund aus Messel wird ein vollständiger Schädel beschrieben. Nach Größe und Morphologie bezieht er sich auf eine neue Art,Europolemur kelleri n. sp. Zu dieser Art sind auch zwei aus Messel bereits beschriebene Skelettfragmente, jeweils Becken, Baculum und Hinterextremitäten umfassend (Koenigswald 1979, 1985), sowie eine rechte Vorderextremität aus Zeugo- und Autopodium (Franzen 1988) zu rechnen. In einem Nachtrag werden erstmalig P3−4 vonEuropolemur koenigswaldi Franzen 1987 beschrieben. Sie stammen aus einem Unterkieferfragment, das als siebter Primatenfund aus Messel im Koprolithen eines Fischotter-ähnlichen Säugetieres enthalten war (Franzen 1997).
Abstract
A complete skull of a primate is described from Messel. It is the eighth discovery of a primate from that locality. Size and morphology indicate a new species,Europolemur kelleri n. sp. This species comprises also two fragmentary skeletons, each consisting of pelvis, baculum and hindlimbs (Koenigswald 1979, 1985), and a right antebrachium with manus described already earlier (Franzen 1988). Additionally, P3–4 ofEuropolemur koenigswaldi Franzen 1987 are described for the first time. They come from a mandibular fragment known as the seventh primate from Messel. It belongs to a coprolite of a semiamphibious otter like mammal (Franzen 1997).
