Abstract
In 1948 G.Deflandre described eight monospecific genera of calcareous dinoflagellate cysts with more or less distinct paratabulations. By means of newly selected material from samples of the type localities a redescription ofDeflandres types is presented using SEM-investigations. As far as possible, the paratabulations are shown. They can be reduced to a more or less complete reflexion of the peridinian plate pattern. Therefore, the presumption taken by some authors that all calcareous dinoflagellate cysts are monophyletic, is supported. The renewed study includes new definitions of the following genera:Calciodinellum, Calcigonellum, Calcipterellum, Bicarinellum, Calcicarpinum. Calciogranellum has been considered synonymous withCalcigonellum, Biechelerella andCalcisphaerellum withBicarinellum subjectively. The new speciesCarinellum parasolis, found in the Eocene from Chaussy (Seine-et-Oise) (original samples of G.Deflandre) will be introduced. The separation in two cyst groups according to their wall structures (Keupp 1981) can be verified too. The newly studied morphotypes can be seen now in connection with other calcareous dinoflagellates demonstrating their stratigraphical and supposed morphological relationships.
