Abstract

New information is given on the distribution, host plants and economic importance of nine species of scale insects in the Middle East. These are:Proto-pulvinaria pyriformis (Cockerell),Saissetia privigna De Lotto,Aonidiella orientalis (Newstead),Eriococcus araucariae Maskell,E. coccineus Cockerell,Antonina natalensis Brain,Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell),Kiritshenkella sacchari (Green) andNipaecoccus viridis (Newstead).
