Practical hofmann rearrangement

Abstract

Hofmann rearrangement of a series of primary aliphatic and aromatic carboxamides1a-1m with HgO−NBS (or dibromantin)-R′OH-DMF gives corresponding carbamates2a-2m in excellent yields.
