Inflammatory cell count and identification in chronic gastritis

  • Published:
Acta Endoscopica

Summary

The authors have studied the qualitative and quantitative variations of the inflammatory cells in the chronic fundic gastritis.

The data obtained have been compared to those of a normal mucosa from a test group.

In all the cases of chronic gastritic, an increase of the lymphocytes of the outer epithelium has been demonstrated.

In the cases of superficial, preatrophic and atrophic gastritis, the number of plasmocytes has increased significantly in the chorion, whereas in the interstitial gastritis, a significant zonal increase of the proportion of the lymphocytes has been noticed.
