Summary
En 1913, Dalziel described cases of probably Crohn ’ s disease, which could be related to paratuberculosis. In 1984 Chiodini isolated Mptbc from Crohn ’ a patients. We isolated between 1985-1990 3 strains of Mptbc. Since 1986 4 other groups confirmed the original results of Chiodini. Considering all possibilities a microbial aetiology, especially a mycobacterial one connected with Mptbc, seems more and more promising.
