Summary

This paper discusses the construction of Laspeyres price indexes for seasonal commodities. Emphasis is laid on those proposals in which there is a natural consistency between annual and monthly indices. After presenting the traditional approach the paper gives two alternative solutions and discusses the relative merits of them.
