Abstract

Although there is no known medicinal value in ginseng, there is a continuing demand for the root. Two species ofPanax are acceptable sources, one Asiatic, the other North American. As a crop, ginseng is no gold mine, but may give a reasonable return to growers willing to wait the five to seven years required for maturation.
