  19. The measurement ofΩ in NP 0532 has given different results because of the probable occurrence of sharp discontinuities in the period, similar to the one that occurred in the Vela pulsar;D. W. Richards, G. H. Pettengill, C. C. Counselman andJ. Rankin have also reported a sinusoidal component inΩ, with a period of about 3 months (I.A.U. Circular, No. 2178, 1969). For an account of the situation, seeR. Ramaty andS. S. Holt:Nature,224, 1003 (1969) and the papers quoted therein. We have used here the value given byF. Drake in theProceedings of the Symposium on Pulsars and High-Energy Activity in Supernovae Remnants, Accademia dei Lincei, Rome, Dec. 18–20 (1969); see also:D. W. Richards, G. H. Pettengill, C. C.
