Control of early blight in eastern and southcentral Idaho

Abstract

Early blight foliage infection can be adequately controlled in eastern and southcentral Idaho with relatively few applications of fungicide if the initial application is properly timed. The initial application should occur near the time when secondary infection is beginning in the field. Spray schedules which began when the plants were small and continued every 12–14 days throughout the season were no more effective in controlling the disease than were three applications properly timed. Early season applications were of no apparent economic value in the overall blight control program.
