Summary

A three-pole expression for the electric proton form factor as a function of the π0, ω, ϕ vector boson resonances is compared to experiment in the spacelike region−10 (GeV)2<t<0. The three unknown parameters which enter the expression are determined by a least-squares method. An analytical continuation is made into the timelike regiont>0. Crossing symmetry and microscopie cansality are shown to hold. The connection between a well-known empirical formula for the form factor and the proposed expression is established.
