Summary
An optical spark chamber experiment has been performed to test the validity of the ΔS=ΔQ weak-interaction selection rule for the decay\(K^0 (\bar K^0 ) \to \pi ^ \pm e^ \pm \nu \). Analysis of the time distribution of 342 decays has given the complex ratiox of the ΔS=−ΔQ to ΔS=ΔQ amplitudes to be Rex=−0.13±0.11 and Imx=−0.04±0.16 which is consistent with no violation of the ΔS=ΔQ rule.
