Abstract
The accelerated oxidation behavior (sulfidation) of commercial nickel-base alloys and simple binary alloys coated with either Na2SO4 or Na2CO3 was studied. The accelerated rates of oxidation associated with sulfidation are related to the oxide-ion content of the fused salt; and aluminum plays a major role in determining whether an alloy is susceptible to this attack.
