A perturbative analysis of the Kapchinskij-Vladimirskij problem in the emittance-dominanted regime

Summary

In this paper we present a first-order perturbative analysis of the space-charge effect on a charged beam with cylindrical symmetry. In particular we discuss the modification induced in the propagation through a drift space and a thin lens.
