Summary

The main features in which child rearing practices in West Rajasthan differ from those in other parts of the country are prolonged unsupplemented breast-feeding, not only among the poor classes but also in the middle and upper strata with lower levels of education and too much reliance on household remedies for different aliments. This points to the need of intensive parental health education and organisation of well baby clinics.
