Strange-Particle coupling constants

Summary

Effective coupling constants of the spin-zero mesons η,π, κ with the baryonsN, Λ, Σ, Ξ are calculated within the framework of the spurion theory of strange particles of Dürr and Heisenberg using a method developed by Yamazaki, Dhar and Katayama. The predictions based on these calculations are quite different from predictions derived from an approximate validity ofSU 3symmetry. In particular, the η and π pseudoscalar coupling constants for all baryons should be roughly the same and approximately equal to 4π. In the calculation corrections resulting from the dressing of the baryon and the vertex are neglected, which, however, would cancel each other in case of zero boson mass due to Ward’s identity. Hence it is expected that the inclusion of these effects will lead to some modification of the coupling constants calculated here which is small for the π but may be larger for η and ϰ. In the Appendix the explicit isospin hypercharge branching coefficients of the various states are given.

Si calcolano le costanti di accoppiamento effettive dei mesoni con spin zero η, π, ϰ coi barioniN, Λ, Σ, Ξ entro le schema della teoria spurionica delle particelle strane di Dürr e Heisenberg usando un metodo sviluppato da Yamazaki, Dhar e Katayama. Le predizioni basate su questi calcoli sono piuttosto diverse da quelle dedotte da una validità approssimata della simmetriaSU 3. In particolare le costanti di accoppiamento pseudoscalari dell’-η e del π per tutti i barioni dovrebbero essere grossolanamente le stesse ed approssimativamente uguali a 4π. Nel calcolo si sono trascurate le correzioni derivanti dal rivestimento del barione e del vertice, che, ad ogni modo, si annullerebbero l’un l’altra nel caso del bosone di massa nulla a causa dell’identità di Waŕd. Quindi si prevede che l’inclusione di questi effetti porterebbero a delle modifiche delle costanti di accoppiamento qui calculate che risultano piccole per il π ma che possono essere maggiori per l’η ed il K. Nell’Appendice si danno in forma esplicita i coefficienti di suddivisione ipercarica-isospin dei vari stati.
