A phenomenological approach to the nonmesonic decay of5Heλ

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

Effective phenomenological interaction forms for the nucleon stimulation interaction are constructed from general invariance principles and are used to calculate momentum distributions, angular correlations, and the branching ratio for the two nonmesonic hyperfragment decay modes:5HegL3H+p + n,5HegL3He + n + n. It is found that the momentum distributions are sensitive to the range taken for the interaction, while the branching ratio may be used in determining the relative magnitudes of the terms appearing in the interaction. Also, neutron stimulation may contribute significantly to an essentially proton stimulated mode,e.g. 5HegL3H + p + n, but this effect becomes increasingly negligible as the interaction range is extended.
