Summary
The experiment on gyro-interaction of radio-waves, carried out in Italy during last three years, showed that the maximums of the parasite modulation were obtained during the night-hours for continuously varying frequencies of the interfering emitter. The variation was nearly 3% about the gyro-frequency. After resumingV. A. Bailey's theory on gyro-interaction, we study the possible causes of a variation in the resonance-frequency, according to theoretical results, and expecially the influences of the frequencies and reciprocal locations of the wanted and interfering emitters, and of small variations of electronic densities in the E-layer. This last variation appears to be the most probable cause of the observed variation in the resonance frequency. We find arguments to confirm this statement. The results of a first calculation do not agree satisfactory with experimental results, but there was an uncorrect hypotesis on the propagation of the wanted wave. This error removed, theory and experimental results are in satisfactory agreement. In order to explain the amplitude of the observed variation we advance the hypothesis that at lowest levels in the E-layer the electronic density shall be reduced essentially by forming of negative ions, and at higher levels by capture of electrons by positive ions.
