Summary
Two-dimensional effects are considered as promising for getting the conditions required for effective thermonuclear burning in cylindrical magnetohydrodynamic targets without tritium. A set of numerical calculations has been performed for large-scale driver energy (E 0≈300 MJ) in the hydraulic (1.5D) approximation. It is also suggested that a driver energyE 0≈300 MJ may be sufficient for complex deuterium targets, provided that the effects of the twodimensional magnetic hydrodynamics are fully exploited.
