Gustavo López Ospina (Colombia) Director of UNESCO's interdisciplinary project ‘Education for sustainable development’. A graduate of Antioquia University in Medellín, Colombia, he holds a master's degree from the University of the Andes in Bogotá. He has served as Colombia's vice-minister of education, as adviser to the Colombian Government and—in his capacity as UNESCO's representative to Brazil—adviser for social and economic planning to the Brazilian president. From 1982 to 1992 he was the director of the UNESCO department responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean. More recently, he has worked as director of UNESCO's New York Office and as director of the UNESCO Regional Centre for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
