Experimental study on the nuclear synthesis of dμd molecular ions by means of the time distribution of the released neutrons

  • Published:
Lettere al Nuovo Cimento (1971-1985)

Summary

The differential time distribution of the neutrons released following the fusion reaction of the dμd molecular ion has been observed, after negative muons from the Saclay ALS had been stopped in an ultrapure-liquid-deuterium target, containing two different hydrogen concentrations. The results obtained on the dμd molecule formation rate and on the sticking probability of the muon to3He are discussed.
