Summary
The search for the muonic and the nonleptonio decays of the hypothetical intermediate boson among the neutrino events produced in the CERN neutrino experiment has been continued and concluded. The data do not give any clear evidence for such decays. Comparing the rate of possible boson reactions, observed in the spark chamber and the bubble chamber, with the calculated production rate, we arrive at a lower limit for the boson mass, ranging from 1.7 to 2.2 GeV/c2 for various assumptions about the relative abundanceB of leptonic decays (Table VI).

è continuata e si è conclusa la ricerca dei decadimenti muonici e non leptonici del1’ipotetioo bosone intermedio fra gli eventi neutrinici dell’esperienza sui neutrini eseguita al CEEN. I dati non offrono alcnna prova evidente di decadimenti del genere. Confrontando il tasso delle possibili reazioni bosoniche osservate nella camera a scintille e nella camera a bolle col tasso di produzione calcolato, si arriva ad un limite inferiore per la massa dei bosoni che per varie ipotesi sull’abbondanza relativaB dei decadimenti leptonici (Tabella VI), va da 1.7 a 2.2 GeV/c2.
