Excited states in mass-twelve nuclei

Summary

A shell-model calculation inLS-coupling of the unexcited, singly and twice excited states of mass-twelve nuclei was carried out using theSU3-coupling scheme. The binding energies of groups of states were evaluated using a two-body central force mixture diagonal in the various relative states of motion of the nucleons. The electric dipole and electric quadrupole states were examined, and the strength from the ground state to some of these states calculated. Encouraging agreement was found with all the established states in¹²C, and further states were prodicted.

In base allo schema dell’accoppiamentoSU3 si è eseguito un calcolo del modello a guscio nell’accoppiamentoLS degli stati non eccitati, semplicemente e doppiamente eccitati dei nuclei di massa dodici. Si sono valutate le energie di legame di gruppi di stati usando una miscela di forze centrali a due corpi, diagonale nei vari stati di moto relativi dei nucleoni. Si sono esaminati gli stati di dipolo e quadrupolo elettrico, e si è calcolata la forza fra lo stato fondamentale e alcuni di questi stati.
