Summary

An optical spark-chamber counter experiment at Adone, the Italian colliding electron-positron ring, has succeeded in measuring the cross-section for the process e+e→p\(\bar p\) near threshold (E c.m.=2.1 GeV). The result isσ(e+e→p\(\bar p\))=(0.91±0.22) nb.

Riassunto

Presso l’anello di accumulazione e+e di Frascati, è stato realizzato un esperimento per misurare la sezione d’urto del processo e+e→p\(\bar p\) ad un’energia vicina alla soglia della reazione (E c.m.=2.1 GeV). Si è usato un apparato sperimentale formato da camere a scintilla ottiche e contatori a scintillazione. Sulla base di (25±6) coppie di p\(\bar p\), si è misurata una sezione d’urtoσ(e+e→p\(\bar p\))=(0.91±0.22) nb.

Для иэмерения поперечного сечения процесса е+е\(\bar p\) вблиэи порога (E c.m.=2.1 ГзВ) был проведен зксперимент с оптической искровой камерой на Адоне, итальянском ускорителе на злектронном и поэитронном встречных пучках. Полученный реэультат составляет σ(е+е\(\bar p\))=(0.91±0.22)п.Щ.
