  3. It is clear that these can be proved directly for fluids and magnetic systems. The translation of the result of Theorem I for fluids becomes 2χ T (0) T )−1 1, where χ T is the isothermal compressibility of the fluid and χ (0) T the same quantity for a perfect gas having the same density and temperature as the fluid. The application of our inequality to fluids and magnetic systems will be considered elsewhere.
