Summary

In this paper the oft confused issues of general covariance, correspondence and inertial isotropy are re-examined. This is done in terms of a generalized theory of gravity, which contains general relativity as a special case. It is shown that, when formulated in a manifestly covariant manner, the generalized theory leads to some second-order effects which are testable by experiment.

In questo lavoro si riesaminano le questioni spesso confuse della covarianza generale, della corrispondenza e dell'isotropia inerziale. Si fa questo in termini di una teoria generalizzata della gravità che contiene la relatività generale come un caso speciale. Si mostra che quando è formulata in una maniera manifestatamente covariante la teoria generalizzata porta a qualche effetto di second'ordine che può essere provato con gli esperimenti.

В этой работе заново исследуются выводы общей ковариантности, соответствия и изотропии инерции. Рассмотрение провцится в терминах обобщенной теории гравитации, которая содержит обшую теорию относительности как частный случай. Показывается, что в явно ковариантной формулировке обобщенная теория приводит к некоторым эффектам второго порядка, которые могут быть проверены экспериментально.
