Band structure and optical transitions of mixed crystals Hg_1−x Cd _x Te

Summary

We perform calculations of the band structure of Hg_1−x Cd _x Te using distorted atomic orbitals as localized basis functions. The role of all relativistic corrections in the inversion of bands is discussed. Nonlinear concentration dependence of the energy gaps atL is found in fair agreement with the experimental results.

Si presenta un calcolo della struttura a bande dei cristalli Hg_1−x Cd _x Te, in cui si usano come funzioni di base localizzate orbitali atomici distorti.
