The Fermi surface of 1T-VS₂ and 4Hb-TaS₂

Summary

The Fermi surfaces of 1T-VSe₂ and 4Hb-TaS₂ are calculated. The projection of the Fermi surface parallel to the layers is particularly large in the former compound and small in the latter. The first effect, which is somewhat accidental, should be tested experimentally; the second effect is explained in terms of the structure of the polytype.
