The angular distributions of the α-particles leading to the first excited states of25Mg in the reaction28Si(n, α)25Mg, at a neutron energy of 14.8 MeV

Summary

In this work the angular distributions of the α-particles leading to the first five levels of25Mg, in the reaction28Si(n, α)25Mg, are analysed. They are obtained by means of a telescope device consisting of two silicon semiconductor detectors. If one supposes that these angular distributions are due partially to a statistical effect, partially to a «heavy stripping process» one can correctly explain both their shape and their absolute value.
