Electron-phonon contribution to the specific heat of alkalines

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1965-1970)

Summary

Using a modified Frölich Hamiltonian the excitation spectrum of the one-particle Green function is calculated in the Midgal approximation. For the electron-ion interaction and the phonon frequencies a model potential is assumed. In our assumptions it is found that the effective mass is simply connected to the band contribution, the Coulomb contribution and electron-phonon contribution. We calculate the electron-phonon term for alkaly metals. The enhancement with respect to the bare electronic mass is of (10÷20)%. Nearly 40% of the contribution comes fromU-processes.
