Abstract
A method is described for determining the furan-oid fatty acids F1-F6 in cod liver oil using squalane as an internal standard added prior to isolation of the F esters by silver ion chromatography (Ag+ TLC) and urea crystallization. The F acids amount to about 1% of the oil and can be determined with an accuracy of ± 15%. There is no significant change in the amount of F acids after refining.
